Stamp text such as a copyright line or a client name onto an image, in your browser, without uploading it. Watermark Image places your text in a chosen corner or the centre at an opacity you set, so the mark is visible without ruining the picture. It is the quick way to brand a set of proofs or put a visible notice on a photo before sending it out.
How to use Watermark Image
- Click "Select image files" and choose the picture.
- Type your watermark text. It defaults to a copyright line, but any short phrase fits.
- Choose a position — bottom right is the usual place for a copyright notice, and centre is the hardest to crop out.
- Set the opacity. 50% is visible and still lets the image read; raise it for a proof you want no one to use.
- Click "Watermark Image" and download.
Who it is for
Watermark Image is for putting a visible notice on a picture before it goes out: a copyright line on proofs sent to a client, a photographer's name on a preview, or a "sample" mark on a design you do not want used uncredited. It is also used to mark internal screenshots that should not be shared.
How it works
- The text is drawn into the pixels at the position and opacity you choose, so it travels with the image and cannot be switched off from a layers panel.
- The text size scales with the image, which keeps the mark at a consistent proportion of the frame across different sizes.
- Five positions are offered, and the centre is the hardest to crop out afterwards.
What it cannot do
- Text only — no logo image. Placing a logo needs an editor, which this site does not offer as a browser tool.
- A mark in a corner can be cropped off; a mark over the centre has to be cloned out, which is slower but not impossible.
- The colour is fixed to a light fill with a dark outline, so it may read poorly on a busy or very light background.
- It is a deterrent, not protection: the original is unchanged, so anyone with the source has the unmarked version.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my own logo instead of text?
Not with this tool — it sets text only. To place a logo you would need an image compositor, which this site does not offer as a browser tool.
Does the watermark sit on the image or in a separate layer?
It is drawn into the pixels, so it is part of the image and cannot be removed by hiding a layer. It can still be cropped off if it sits in a corner, which is why the centre position exists.
Will it look the same on every image size?
Yes, in relative terms: the text is sized from the image, so it keeps the same proportion of the frame whether the picture is a thumbnail or full size. Only a very small image hits the minimum size the tool allows. Check a sample before running a batch.
Is the watermark easy to remove?
No, but it is not impossible. Drawn into a corner it can be cropped; drawn over the middle it has to be cloned out, which is slow and leaves traces. For a deterrent rather than real protection, that is enough.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The drawing happens on your device, so nothing is transmitted.
