Convert Image

Convert between JPG, PNG, and WebP in your browser.

or drop PDF here

Runs in your browser — your file never leaves your device.

Convert an image between PNG, JPG and WebP, in your browser, without uploading it. Choose the target format and, for JPG and WebP, a quality level. Converting to JPG is the usual fix for an oversized PNG photograph; converting to PNG is the fix for a screenshot that JPEG has smeared; WebP gives the smallest file of the three for the web in a modern browser.

How to use Convert Image

  1. Click "Select image files" and choose the picture.
  2. Choose the output format — PNG, JPG or WebP.
  3. For JPG or WebP, set the quality. 90 is the default and near-invisible; drop it if the file must be smaller.
  4. Click "Convert Image" and download.

Who it is for

Convert Image is for matching a format to a destination: a site that only accepts JPG, a screenshot that JPEG has smeared and should be PNG, a logo that needs transparency, or a gallery that should be WebP for speed. It is also the workaround for a form that rejects HEIC or an unfamiliar extension.

How it works

  • The image is drawn to a canvas and re-encoded in the target format, with a quality setting for JPG and WebP.
  • Format determines what the file can carry: PNG keeps hard edges and transparency, JPG discards fine detail for size, WebP aims for both.
  • Several images can be converted in one pass, which is the quick way to standardise a folder.

What it cannot do

  • Converting a JPG to PNG makes the file larger without recovering any detail — JPEG already threw that detail away.
  • WebP is smallest in a modern browser, but an older system or an email client may not accept it.
  • Transparency survives only into a format that supports it; JPG will fill the background with white.
  • This changes the format, not the dimensions. Use Resize Image for that.

Frequently asked questions

Which format should I use?

JPG for photographs, because it is small and the loss is invisible at normal quality. PNG for screenshots, logos and line art, because it is lossless and keeps hard edges. WebP when file size matters most and the destination is a modern browser.

Why does my screenshot look fuzzy as a JPG?

Because JPEG compresses by discarding detail around edges, and text is nearly all edges. That fringing is unavoidable at small file sizes. Convert the screenshot to PNG instead, or to WebP if you need it small.

Does converting to PNG make the file smaller?

Usually not. PNG is lossless, so converting a JPG to PNG makes the file larger for no gain in quality — the detail JPEG already threw away does not come back. Convert the other way when you need a smaller file.

Can I convert several images at once?

Yes. Add as many as you need and each is converted in turn, which is the quick way to standardise a folder of product photos.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The conversion happens on your device with a canvas, so nothing is transmitted.
