Translate text between 40+ languages with natural, idiomatic phrasing rather than a stiff word-for-word rendering. Pick the source language or let the AI detect it automatically, choose your target, and get clean output with formatting preserved.

How to use Translate

  1. Choose the language to translate from, or leave it on "Detect language".
  2. Choose the language to translate into.
  3. Paste your text and click "Translate", then copy the result.

Who it is for

Translate is for understanding or producing text in a language you do not write: a letter that arrived in another language, a product description for a new market, a message you need to send, or a contract clause you want a rough reading of before paying for a translator.

How it works

  • Text is translated between more than forty languages with the AI producing idiomatic phrasing rather than a word-for-word rendering.
  • The source language can be detected automatically or set explicitly, which matters for short text where detection is unreliable.
  • Formatting and paragraph structure are preserved in the output.

What it cannot do

  • This is machine translation. It is fine for understanding and risky for anything binding — a legal or medical text needs a professional.
  • Idiom, humour and register do not always survive; a polite form in one language can read as curt in another.
  • Specialist terminology is translated by general knowledge, not by a glossary, so technical terms can drift.
  • The text is sent to a third-party AI provider.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to set the source language?

No. Leave it on "Detect language" and the AI will identify the source automatically. Setting it explicitly can help with very short or ambiguous text.

Does it keep my formatting?

Yes. Line breaks, lists, and overall structure are preserved, and names, brand names, code, URLs, and numbers are kept unchanged.

Is the translation literal or natural?

Natural. The AI translates the way a native speaker would phrase it, keeping the original meaning, tone, and register rather than translating word for word.

How much text can I translate at once?

Up to 24,000 characters per request. A longer document has to be translated in parts, so keep the section breaks on paragraph boundaries rather than mid-sentence.

Is this good enough for a legal or medical document?

No. Machine translation is fine for understanding and risky for anything binding, because idiom, hedging and technical register do not always survive. Use it to get the sense of a document, then have the part that matters translated properly.

Is my text stored?

It is sent securely to the AI provider to produce the translation and is not kept on our servers afterwards. It does leave your device, so do not paste anything you would not share with a supplier.

Why does a short phrase sometimes translate oddly?

With very little context the AI has to guess, and a two-word phrase often has several plausible readings. Setting the source language explicitly helps, and translating a full sentence is more reliable than translating a fragment.
