Turn every page, or only some of them, so a document reads the right way up. Rotate PDF changes the page's own orientation rather than adding a note that some viewers ignore, so the result is upright in every reader, printer and phone. Use the Left and Right buttons to turn 90° at a time and watch the preview update, then restrict the rotation to specific pages if only some of them are sideways. Nothing is uploaded.
How to use Rotate PDF
- Click "Select PDF file" and choose the PDF with the sideways or upside-down pages.
- Press Right or Left to turn 90° at a time. The preview updates as you go, and the display shows the total angle you have applied.
- If only some pages need it, type them into the "Pages" box as a list or range — 1,3-5 — and leave it blank to rotate the whole document.
- Click "Rotate PDF" and download the corrected file.
Who it is for
Rotate PDF is for the document that arrives sideways. A scan fed the wrong way through a feeder, a photo of a page taken in portrait, a landscape drawing stored as a portrait page, or a contract where one page was signed on its side. It is also the fix for a page whose numbers look right on screen but print upside down, which happens when the page carries a rotation the reader disagrees with.
How it works
- The rotation is written into the page dictionary — the same property a scanner sets when it recognises a sideways sheet — so the page is genuinely upright rather than depending on a viewer preference.
- Rotation is applied in 90° steps, and the preview updates as you press, so the total angle is visible before you commit.
- A pages field accepts a list or a range, so only the sideways sheets in a mixed document are turned.
What it cannot do
- Only quarter turns. An arbitrary angle would re-sample the page and soften it, so it is not offered.
- There is no per-page angle: all the pages you list receive the same turn.
- Rotating does not reflow anything, so a landscape page turned to portrait keeps its landscape proportions and its content moves with it.
- The original file is untouched; a mistake costs a reload.
Frequently asked questions
Does this rotate the real page or just the view?
The real page. The rotation is written into the page dictionary, which is the same property a scanner sets when it recognises a portrait page fed through sideways. That is why the result stays upright in Adobe Reader, in a browser, in a phone viewer and when printed, instead of depending on the reader honouring a preference.
Can I rotate only one page of a long document?
Yes. Put the page number or numbers in the "Pages" box, for example 2 or 4,7-9. Leaving the box empty rotates every page, which is what you want for a fully sideways scan.
I rotated 180°, how do I undo it?
Rotate another 180° in either direction — two more presses of the same button — or simply reload the original file and start again. Nothing is saved until you click the final button, so the original on your disk is never touched.
Will rotating a page crop or stretch it?
No. The page keeps its exact dimensions and content; only its orientation changes. A landscape page rotated to portrait keeps its landscape proportions, which is correct — the content moves with it rather than being squashed.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The PDF is read and re-saved in your browser. No account, no upload, no watermark, and the original file on your computer is not modified.
