Runs in your browser — your file never leaves your device.

Turn each page of a PDF into a PNG image, in the browser, without uploading the file. PNG is lossless, so text edges and line art stay crisp — the right choice for screenshots, diagrams and anything that will be enlarged or edited afterwards. Choose 72, 144 or 216 dpi, and PDF to PNG renders every page: one page gives you one PNG, while a longer document comes back as a ZIP with one image per page in page order.

How to use PDF to PNG

  1. Click "Select PDF file" and choose the PDF to convert.
  2. Pick a quality level. High (144 dpi) is the sensible default; Very high (216 dpi) is for enlargement or archiving and produces much larger files.
  3. Leave the format on PNG. This module shares one engine with PDF to JPG, so the format control is present — switching it would simply produce JPGs, which is what that other tool is for.
  4. Click "Convert to PNG" and wait while the pages render.
  5. Download the single image, or the ZIP containing one PNG per page.

Who it is for

PDF to PNG is for pages that will be enlarged, edited or used as graphics: a diagram lifted out of a report, a signature cropped from a signed page, a chart for a presentation, or a figure that has to stay sharp at any size. It is the lossless counterpart to PDF to JPG.

How it works

  • Pages are rendered at 72, 144 or 216 dots per inch and written as PNG, which keeps hard edges exactly hard.
  • A single page downloads as one PNG; a multi-page document is delivered as a ZIP with one image per page in page order.
  • Rendering happens in the browser, so a confidential page never leaves the device.

What it cannot do

  • PNG files are much larger than the equivalent JPEGs, especially at 216 dpi.
  • Text becomes pixels and is no longer selectable or searchable.
  • The whole document is rendered, with no page selection.
  • A transparent PDF page still becomes a white PNG, because the renderer paints a white background.

Frequently asked questions

PNG or JPG — which should I choose?

PNG for anything with text, line art or a screenshot, because it is lossless and keeps hard edges. JPG for photographs and scans, where it is far smaller for no visible loss. The two tools share the same engine; only the output format differs.

Why did I get a ZIP?

Because the PDF had more than one page. A single page returns one file; several pages return a ZIP so the images stay in page order and nothing overwrites anything.

Does the text stay searchable?

No — a PNG is a picture of the page, so the text becomes pixels. That is the point when you need an image. For selectable text, use PDF to Text or PDF to Word.

Can I convert only some pages?

Not here; the whole document is rendered. Extract the pages you want first with Extract Pages, then convert that smaller file.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Pages are rendered by pdf.js on your device and the images are built there, so a confidential document never leaves it.
