Add Header/Footer

Add a running header and footer to every page of a PDF — a document title, a confidentiality line, or "Page 4 of 12" — without uploading it. Header/Footer PDF lets you set the top and bottom text separately, style each one with its own face, size and colour, and align them left, centre or right. The tokens {page} and {total} are replaced with the real numbers on every page.

How to use Add Header/Footer

1. Click "Select PDF file" and choose the PDF.
2. Type the header text. "Confidential — {page}" is a useful pattern; leave the box empty for no header at all.
3. Type the footer. "Page {page} of {total}" gives the usual numbered look.
4. Style the header and footer independently — each has its own face, size and colour. The alignment you choose applies to both.
5. Click "Add Header & Footer" and download the result.

Who it is for

Header/Footer PDF is for documents that need running context on every page: a confidentiality line, a document title, a client name, a version, and above all page numbers with a total. It is what turns a stack of printed pages into something that can be reassembled if it is dropped, and it is standard on anything leaving a business.

How it works

• The top and bottom text are set separately, each with its own face, size and colour, and both are placed in the page margins.
• The tokens {page} and {total} are replaced on each page, so the counter is real rather than stamped once.
• The chosen face is embedded in the PDF rather than referenced, so the header looks identical on another machine.

What it cannot do

• One alignment setting applies to both bands, even though their styling is independent.
• The same text goes on every page; skipping a cover means splitting it off first.
• Text sits in the margin, so a scan with content to the edge can collide with it. Check the first page before trusting a long run.
• There is no separate first-page-and-rest mode, which is what a formal report usually wants.
